    Sharp/ Casio Gamecube display

Thought I'd post here first as your forum's led me to the information I needed to complete this hack.

I recently hacked a Sharp LM6Q401 display (Identical to the Casio CMV54NT04P)
for VGA input. Here's how I did it.

    1. Get a game-cube portable display such as the Interact brand one I used, basically anything containing the LM6Q401 or CMV54NT04P display module.

    2. Dissassemble until all you have is the bare display

    3. Get a VGA cable or connector and wire it up

    Back of LCD:
    1 - NC
    2 - Blue
    3 - Red
    4 - +12v
    5 - Gnd
    6 - NC
    7 - Composite Sync
    8 - Green
    9 - +12v
    10 - Gnd

    DB15 or VGA connector:
    1 - Red
    2 - Green
    3 - Blue
13 - Horizontal Sync (connect to composite sync)
    10 - Gnd

    4. Make a connector for the back if you like

I used the power connector from the origonal casing and a cable cut from the back of a dead monitor

    5. Hook it up to your computer and configure it with powerstrip. These are the current settings I'm using:

    640x480 (arcade mode setting)
Composite Sync (this is the key to making it work)
    Interlaced
    Pixel Clock: 11Mhz
    Horiz Scan rate: 13.221Khz
    Vert Refresh rate: 20.498

you'll have to play with the size/ position to get it dialed in perfectly

    6. Enjoy the end result

    any ideas , powerstrip

first i would like to say that the infomation above has provide a lot of help cheers for posting it.

i have got the sharp display (gamecube lcd ) exact same display, wired up corect as per the prevous post.

the display defently does works properly as i have tested it.

the problem comes when configering powerstrip . i can get get at display at 640 , 480 this ok but its it will only be in the centre of the screen . so the image is square and a strip aprox 1cm vertical either side of the display that is wasted. AND is too small really.

i have tried adusting the timing and sizing and but when i incease the size past what will fit on the display the display goes out of sync.

i also can only get the stanard res working , 680 by 480 , 800 by 600. ect
the aspect radios dont do much either.

any help or things to try would be a great help.
    thanks

To get things sized up properly I had to do alot of playing with the settings (Fields such as: front porch, etc...). Wish you would have posted before I reformatted, could have put up my config file...

Thanks for the guide, much appreciated!

Just wondering though, how do i find out which wires inside the VGA cable go to which pins on the cable?

Am I reading this right??? Did you just ask how to tell which wires are attached to what pins on a chopped VGA cable?
Ever hear of an Ohm Meter? wtf? if you are entertaining the idea of doing this VERY simple hack, and don't have a dvom, or know how to trace wires on a cable, please disconnect from the internet and go outside to play.
    Thank you.

EDIT: props to the OP for a well written, detailed how to. Good job newbie!

No need for the rudeness mate, especially not to a new member... I thought there might be a standard, like with a CAT5. Just saves me (and everyone else) a few minutes messing around with a multimeter.

There is no color standard that I am aware of when it comes to VGA cables.
If there is, I think ISO's website would have that info.
