LCD Glare and is it worth it in the end? (Vampire Syndrome?)

Before I started this project I knew that when I was done with it all there would be some glare during the day time. What I didnt know is how rediculous the glare would be.

I'm using a lilliput that is recessed about half an inch in and its pretty much useless in the day time. Enough so that I might just remove it and purchase an in deck dvd mp3 player. No, I dont want to do that, but with the amount of glare it gives off it just looks like a silver plate with alot of fingerprints on it making it impossible to see, let alone actually use.

I try to use my hand to "shade" the LCD to see if it helps any, it does a little but not really that much. Theres just too much light coming from all angles.

I have tinted windows which I'm sure helps. God knows what it would look like without tinted windows.

I was very excited to get this system up and running but now that its said and done i'm honestly pretty dissapointed and wondering if i should have used my money and time elsewhere.

Maybe its just me, maybe i'm just ranting or maybe I'm just stupid but to me its just too much glare to make it usable in the daytime.

That said, at night everything is amazing. I love everything about it and I am glad I used the money and time with this project; until the sun rises again.

I will call this "Vampire Syndrome".

    Question:

Has anyone been able to use any kind of glare reducing film or something similar to reduce glare?

there are things that can be done, but most include extreme measures that include either replacing the lcd with a brighter one. or modding the existing lcd.... either one is pretty extreme, but I couldn't imagine my car without a pc

about the only easy thing that can be done is to remove the touchscreen overlay, that can help quite a bit, as it's the main cause of the glare.... past that you get into actual brightness issues that there is no easy fix for...

I have a Xenarc and it's usuable during day time. I also have a remote so most of the time I don't even need the TS.

I switched from the Lilli to the Xenarc, it's a bit brighter. Works fine for me (except when the sun shines directly on it), and my windows aren't tinted.
