I'm also looking into a 10+ buy on some 8.4" screens. Will update if anyone is interested in a base for the upgrade.
I agree totally. If you want to use your screen in the daytime you almost have no choiceOriginally Posted by nameeri

I drive my car during the day and its not that bad. I can still see the screen. when its really bad, I just cover it with my hand. But IMO, $400 is not worth the upgrade, that'll cost as much as my whole system. There are cheaper alternatives that help with sunlight. Ex, window tinting, helps reduce the amout of light comming in and improves the apperance of the car at half the price. (I know its that the best solution, but it works, sorta)

I agree with the tinting ideaOriginally Posted by Quattro
Helps keep bright sunlight out, keeps the interior of the car *much* cooler, and it looks good to boot. A good tint job can cost as little as $200-$250 for every window (excluding windscreen).
That said, I am still seriously considering the transflective upgrade![]()
Tinting will also cut down on UV rays and help keep your interior in top shape.Originally Posted by Jackboot
Interested. I assume you're looking at NEC, Mitsubishi, or Toshiba as recommended by Nathan? Will that size fit in this:Originally Posted by grayvader

Keep me updated on this - you can count me in as interested. I'd definitely like to go with the recommended models/mfgs though.Originally Posted by grayvader

Tinting does little to help with the glare on the screen because my window are tinted 20% and I get most of my glare from the seats and interior not from the sunlight hitting the screen itself. Also I kinda find it hard to drive and cover the screen with one hand and touch the screen exactly where it needs to be touch and keep my eyes on the road so $400 really isn't that bad if it can improve visability of the screen and make it safer for others on the roadOriginally Posted by Quattro
The position and placement of the screen also plays a big role in the usability of the screen during the day. If the screen is placed at such an angle that it easily reflects your interior, and you have a light colored interior, then you will likely have problems viewing it during daylight. Tint may help some, but probably not much. Many people here have the screen in the default location for the HU, which is generally right in the middle of the dash. This area gets plenty of sunlight from the windshield, the rear windshield, side windows, and light bouncing off the seats and headliner. So the best bet would be to have tint + transreflective upgrade!! WOOT WOOT!!Originally Posted by ovsims
