excellent, i was one of the early ones to pick up the "kit" as it is run now. i know i was in the first group, because i was watching the auction for the screens and he had an option to buy the kit, but ebay made him change the auction. only 3 of the 6 kits met the $175 reserve price. damn i got lucky, ive been hearing that they are reserved at well over $200 now.

funny, though, it took almost 1.5 months to get to me. oh well, worth the wait!!!

Yeah he did get a good deal.

I paid $300.00 for my setup shipped with touchscreen and then $50.00 for the OSD shipped and $25.00 for the serial cable shipped.

    So I paid $375.00 total.

I did not know anything about LCD's before this but now I do.

My 12bit does look pretty sweet for DVD's.
Pigseye, show your friend my page with my DVD screenshots.

So now I'm trying to get a nice 8.4" 24bit color TFT with a Hirose connector so I can take my touchoverlay off this one and rewire it so I get 24bit color.

    Hi Leslie,
Yeah I just looked at those screen shots. They look great!!! To cool. I'll send him the link.

I showed my friend the LQ9D161s and he said that it looked like the overlay was mounted using a semi permanent process. I asked him if I could remove it to improve the brightness but he said you might ruin the overlay. FYI, He said that touch screen overlays reduce brightness by about 10% so thats not a good reason to remove it. But if you could remount it on a better LCD, woohoo!

But why go with a 24 bit LCD? Your snaps look great!

Actually, there could be an advantage going to a more modern LCD and that would be picture quality in sunlight. This same friend got me a demo LCD that is supposed to be visible with high quality in any lighting condition including sunlight. Wow! I'm going to be working on that screen in the next few weeks. I'll keep you posted.

But to tell you the truth, if I had the same picture quality you had I'd be done screwing around with the screens and would start on the install process in my car.

    Congrats again,
    Pigseye

    Wink

Actually this thing gets so bright it can blind you.

Your right, no need for 24 bit.
    It's going into my car.

I ordered a 25' serial cable for my touch for 17.00 shipped. It's on it's way.

All I need now is 1 more thing. - A enclosure for the LCD since I'm making it removable.

After it's up and running in my car. I'm going to order a nice wireless PCI card.

The TFT is positive pin. Ground outer. 12 volts.

The Touch controller is negative pin positive outer. 5 volts.

When you say TFT positive pin you mean the + 12 V going back to the controller via the VGA connector or is the VGA also getting power that I am unaware of.

I have triple checked my connections and there are no shorts and still nothing works. I get a scrambled screen if it's booting up or not. And once again the only way I get any image (still scrambled) is if I am touching (shorting with finger) the surdace mount capacitor C1.

I have +12V to pin 1 on the controller and all grounds tied together and put to ground on the power supply. What else am I missing. Both data sheets match up with their connections. Could this be a faulty board?

What are you talking about Sleeka?

    Pin 1 - 12 volts?

The little power plug that plugs in on the digiview controller is the only thing that needs power.

Sleeka do this....Forget the touchscreen. Unhook it. Take the controller and place it aside.

Now try to get your TFT working. First , what TFT controller you got? Do you have a OSD controller for it?

If you got the DennisK ebay kit, I can help you for sure.

Sorry I left out more details. It is the Allen controller which has +12V fed to its pin 1 on the VGA to 16 pin plug.

I removed the touchscreen awhile back to put on a different screen I have and it worked fine so no issues there.

No onscreen controller. Just what is built in.

I don't know what it could be. Are you sure you have it hooked up right? My friend wired up a 20 x 4 LCD and swore it was broken. After spending 5 minutes looking at it and trying to see what was wrong. I started to laugh as he confused pin 1 for for 13 and pin 14 for 25. He had it backwards.

I'm not familiar with Allens controller, but are you suppose to tie the grounds together like that or ground them to tft pins on the controller like mine?

But sounds like the inverter is powering up and the enable signal is working for you. Something with the hsync or vsync maybe?

Other than that, if you sure it's hooked up 100% it may be a lemon. It happens. Get another one to see what happens.
