Look at the tranflective review I did. there is a pic of a laptop that has just the 3M anti glare treatment and see for yourself. It wont help for Xenarcs or Liliputs with a touchscreen.

Is seems to me that a lot of the complaints come from convertable owners. Does having a non-convertable help with the viewability? I'm also in kind of a holding pattern on a screen. I have just about everything else ready, I just don't want to waste my money on a screen that I will be disappointed with. I also have a limited budget and can't see a sunlight viewable getting into the $250 dollar range anyway.

There are daylight viewable solutions out there, just not a single one that is easily or cheaply availible. I have a 2000 nit screen in my dash that I run at 1000 (half of the are backlights on) because i do not have a convertible / moonroof and it is blinding at night. But i have no problem reading it during the day. In the end it only cost me around 450-500 for the screen, (controller, screen, inverter, ect) what it did cost me though is months of research, and effort.

Care to share your secrets of success? If I found even a 1000-nit screen, I think I'd be happy. I've found some sites with 1000-nit screens, but not in the size I'm wanting (7-inch 16:9).

I did above, you get out what you put in.

From start to finish it took at least 5 months from first planning to actually having the screen in the car.

If there was a link that would solve the delema, I would post it, beleive me. I am not tring to preach from a soapbox here, if i knew what i was getting myself into when i started the process I probibly would have choosen a xenarc and called it a day, all I am tring to say is that it can be done (its wether the total cost monitary and non is worth it).

    Good luck with your project.

If you are contemplating an install and holding off because you are afraid the screen will be unusable then relax. Yes, it’s a pain but it doesn’t ruin the install. The value is there even if you have a regular lilliput. I myself am going to take the plunge….order a new screen (a Xenarc this time for the better controller, send it off to get a TS and Trans mod…then mod my bezel to make it fit) The only reason I can afford to do this though is that I am spending poker winnings, not real money. hehe

I say its worth it still, but only if you have a secondary control method.

The best is steering wheel buttons. The next best would be some kind of controller, at the very least, a volume knob. The griffin powermate works well. There's all kinds of good projects and suggestions in the input devices section, so I wouldnt worry about it.

I am finding that the Xenarc touch screen almost turns into a mirror when the sun hits it through the sunroof... I have to squint quite a bit to avoid being blinded.

I'm curious, what are the brightness ratings (nits) on the Lilli and Xenarc?
