just to clear that up for you..

Right, I got that much, but there aren't any drivers for that videocard for dos, and even if there were, loading them wouldn't do any good. You dont by chance have a second videocard in the machine, do you?

Yes, it has onboard AGP crappy video. I can disable it in the bios, but I tried playing with it last night and now i get a constant "windows protection error, please restart your machine" looks like a i have to reinstall windows.

Id be willing to wager money that the bios post screen and winme boot logo are defaulting to the onboard video. And there isnt an option in the bios to pick which to display to (agp/pci).

Yes, there were 2 options in different places. One was already turned on, and the other wasnt. I turned the 2nd option off for the onboard video, and now Im having the OS problems.

I narrowed it down to me changing the onboard, shared memory settings for the built in video. I got it to boot, but I still cant get the windows splash screen to show up, even after flashing the bios. Oh well.

ATI video cards boot to tv out by default. Make sure the computer is booting to the ATI card, not the on-board card. Are you using a 75 ohm cable? Your video card will post before anything else. If it doesn't find a connection on the tv-out it won't tv-out at boot. When the windows drivers are loaded it trys again for a tv-out connection or can be forced in the display settings. I believe your card supports up to 800x600 for tv-out. Try a better cable or add a 75 ohm resistor.

Another option you have is update the Windows drivers, you might also check to see if you can flash the firm ware on the video card.

The reason I say update the video drivers is I have seen with some NICs (3Com) that if you upgrade the Windows drivers it updates the firmware on the NIC. This is something I have done to enable WOL.
