    Powering LCD from car?

    I'm planning on using a laptop as the basis for my system so I cannot use a floppy drive connector for power to the LCD. If I get a "wide voltage" LCD, will I be able to power it directly from the accessory line from the car battery? If so, that takes care of that problem. However most LCD's I've seen still require 5V for the backlight. Where should I get these 5V from?

    Typing this I had another thought... are parallel LCD's powered from the parallel port or do they need an external power supply too?

    I've nearly the same problem. I'm using a notbook, too, but I'm not ready to put it into the car yet.
    But I thought I could get the 5V Source from the IDE Bus, because, the HD's and CD-Roms get it from there, too.

    This is only an idea, I hadn't time to check this out.

    You could pick up 5V from the PS/2 port of your laptop, OR use a 7805 linear regulator to "make" 5V from your car's 12V electrical system.

    Yeah, I brached onto this topic in one of my other threads and decided to pull from the ps/2 port.

    Sorry, this could be a new topic, but have you an idea how I could power my NB it's own?

    It has an internal Power Supply, and I'm not sure how I could power it.

    Have I to use one of those DC-DC converters?

    They require external power. If you have a game port (some laptops have them) then you can get the power from that. See this site for pin wirings.

    Whats a NB? (in dubspeak its new beetle, and Im guesing thats not what you're aksing about ).

    Any ideas anyway?
    First Setup: P133/32MB Ram, 6" TFT, Linux + selfmade Player (SVGA-Lib)...
