LQ10DS05 - Is Anything Possible?!?
I've recently taken apart an old Dell Latitude XPi as it stopped working. After much messing around, I've discovered the display is a Sharp LQ10DS05 10.4". The laptop itself is dodgey, it sometimes boots and sometimes sounds a beep code.
I'm wondering if ANYTHING practical can be done with the LCD, it seems such a waste to throw away a perfectly decent piece of kit. I've attached some photos of the plug on the screen and the socket on the motherboard if it helps.
I understand it's difficult to get a VGA signal to LCD but can anything else be done with it?
ANY help or technical info would be much appreciated!
Regards,
Alex O'Donnell

Variable Bitrate
you'll need a controller for the LCD to convert a VGA signal from your comp to a digital signal the LCD can understand.
(www.earthlcd.com but the controllers are expensive)

Is that a Dual Scan display?
If so the screen is not worth it.
I got the Active Matrix version of that screen. The 10.4" TFT lying around here.

Biscuit PC?
I'm not sure if it's Dual Scan, what's the easiest way of telling?!?
I was searching for more info on the LCD screen when I came across the range of Advantech Biscuit PCs. Which apparantly have built in LCD support. The screen is mentioned in the description of the PCM-4825/L, unfortunately this page is no longer available but google has a cache of it - http://216.239.51.100/search?q=cache...LQ10DS05&hl=en
Does anyone has any opinons or experience with these mini motherboards?
Thanks,
Alex
