    VGA to NTSC?

    http://home1.gte.net/bs/sharp2.html
Has anyone tried this? I only to have something that works in dos, and don't really want to buy a new video card.

what exactly is it you want/already have? The way I see it, you have a standard vga card and you want to have an rca out? If so, might have solution.

Looks like he just made his own vga -> composite adapter. Nothing wrong with that. If you got the know-how why go out and buy when you can build? Unless, of coarse the latter choice is cheaper.

BUT...Might I just add that I'm so against converting signals. If you are going to use a computer in a car, you really should use computer parts. Just like you don’t watch TV on a calculator display, you don’t want to watch VGA graphics on a standard TV monitor.

hey, I have built a comptuer to fit into my car, now the problem is, I need to somehow get the VGA signal, from the comptuer (where you'd normally connect a monitor) to a compsite singal (RCA). What would you do? I can't buy a video card, because I'm usuing a FlexATX style case, there is no room!

BTW: I tried one of those VGA cable to RCA composite for DELL laptops off ebay, those didnt work for me

well at the local computer store I saw a vga to rgb cable for a few bucks...that's probably similar to the dell laptop cable you tried...anyway you could post a pic of it or model number so I could tell you if it's the same thing? I can check it easily...I go there 2 - 3 times a week...heh.

I remember back in HS my english teacher used this device that plugged into the room's PC and output to TV (via RCA cables) You need something like that. A VGA to RGB cable will not work. I still talk to that teacher. I'll email him and ask who made it. I'm sure it wasn't that much, he's cheap and so is the school...it looked like hell though. I say go VGA, spending this money on a all these coverters is BS. But if in the end you save money and don't mind the quality, or lack of more power to ya.

That VGA to RCA cable you tried was most likey made for a laptop that's video card has tv-out built in. The conversion takes place internally rather than on the cable end.

I know of those devices, the problem is they require a power supply too, so I'd have to attach that to my power inverter too

I think you're right about the cable I purcahsed, and the reason I'm sticking with composite is because my display is a motorized 6.4" LCD that uses a composite signal

I looked at other options, and this works nicely...my comptuer however doesnt like to work with it.

    any other ideas?

    So what?

5 volts DC at 700 milliamps. You can connect that to your computers PSU.

Here's a link to a few other of those vga - tv out devices:
