that is an awsome idea.... if someone had 2 liliputs & one was the donor, that could be a good way to go to like 600 nits or so with no hassles I think...

yep exactly....MUCH cheaper than transreflective, more available and better tested than LED...my easy alternative.

maybe stack 3.... problem is sourcing the donors, but guys are screwing there screens up al over & dumping them too... but your still ging to spend some bucks unless you already have a few busted lilli's laying around...

....thinking further, if you have a few busted lilli's laying around, you may not be the best type of guy to do this

originally i was going to position both CCFL's on the single light guide, but the plugs on either end of the CCFL's prevented me from doing so.

As for getting a doner...maybe search on ebay for a busted lilli or xenarc.

    true THAT.

The one i used was from the projector i made. the LCD no longer needed it since it had the 600 watt projector bulb as its backlight.

the light guide i used was simply from another 7" LCD not even the same brand. and it still worked great

I think you hit a real nice idea there... I wonder if larger lcd lightguides could be cut down... broken lcd's are a dime a dozen on ebay, but larger ones... you'd still have to source the light source though... having the same size donor screen makes this look real easy though...

Hmmm...so the answer to "I need more backlight" is "double the backlight".

    Brilliant. Literally.

This does look promising...of course, I'll do some searching and find 10 people who will have tried it and found that it doesn't work. ;-)

HAHAHAHAH id love to see if others had done it...

I thought it was already widely done....I just figured that since in some bigger monitors they use more than one CCFL why not my 7"....

I think it has to work... the key is the lightguide though, to allow even dispersion & 100% utilization of the add'l light
