    Newbie wanting a in-dash monitor

    Hi all,

As you can tell im new to this forum, im wanting to know which is a good touch screen in-dash monitor as i keep looking on the internet and dont seem to find many reviews of them.

Im wanting it to run a windows xp based pc in my car. the touch screen is oviously essensial as i have heard from some people that the touch screen technology when used with windows isnt very good and isnt very accurate.

I hope somebody here has some answers and perhaps some links to some in-dash monitors. im from the uk so it would be best if i didnt have to get it shipped from the u.s.

thanks for ur help in advance

did you search in these forums at all?

this has been discussed countless times

there are multiple brands you can go with, most people use Xenarc, Lilliput or Super (basically Xenarc)

super you can get all over the place on ebay, same with xenarc and lilliput, so just find one from europe and u should be fine

or check the mp3car.com store, they have xenarc's and lilliputs

wow dint notice that mp3car had a store, thought it was jsut a forum.

suppose the main thing im wanting to know is how well the touch screen works now.

    how about this one: http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_...roducts_id=120

ive heard that the touch screens are not very accurate when working in windows. or the drivers for windows dont work very well.

    thanks

Just for future reference...people around here REALLY appreciate it if you search the forums first, and then ask questions later. There is a LOT of info in the forums...they're huge...and many people have had this issue in the past.

I've never run into the issues you mentioned Rozza....and I suggest you do as the others have suggested. There's a load of information out there waiting for you to find it.

the normal VGA touchscreens we use on here (lilliput, xenarc, etc) are more accurate than your finger, enough said. even with a stylus, my xenarc touchscreen seems no worse than my own accuracy with the stylus.
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:

There are quite a few international members here...you might try looking for someone else from the UK and find out where they sourced their monitor...
