Ok then, forget the touch screen - they seem to cost more than the display! If anyone knows of a cheap (pref. usb) 14.1" touch screen for this kinda display then let me know...
Cheers
I have been toying with the idea of buying a redant (7") display from Lik Sang (can't buy from DC Customs as need PAL), but decided it was too small. I have a 13.3" laptop TFT here and thought thats the kinda size I want for GPS, so did a bit of a search and found that I could use a laptop panel with a controller, but I came to the board just after all the allen rubble controllers were sold. So, a controller costs more than buying a ready made TFT display!
After looking at Earth's controllers, I decided I would not bother and stick with my character based display (ouch!). But, I was browsing the Earth LCD site and came across this page http://www.earthlcd.com/cam141.htm. This looks pretty nice, and seems to be very slim line without the base. What's the chance of getting a touchscreen for this display and would it be any good in car? Sorry for asking dumb questions but I don't want to spend lots of money only to find it was a waste of money!
Cheers

Can anyone provide feedback on the brightness (200nit) of this LCD? What experiences have people had with LCDs this bright (or dim, for that matter). Would this only be good at night? I really want to get an LCD display instead of a character display, but don't want to fork over lots of cash, and this unit seemed appropriated for my purposes. Thanks

I have decided to use a bog standard display - these are too expensive, plus shipping is going to be horrendous! Also, it is to go inside a people carrier style vehicle, so space isn't exactly a problem. As for a 200 nits display, Arby has a rather nice one so check out his pics in the posts. I think they cope with direct sunlight reasonably, but just remember that unless you literally have thousands of $'s (or £'s) to spend I don't think you will really get something as bright as a conventional CRT is in direct sunlight.
Anyone know of a good (preferably cheap!) monitor in the uk - I was looking at getting one for my desk and kinda figured that with a bit of modificaitons it would also do in my car!
