    Question Resolution

well im in the market for a 10.4" lcd monitor for the dash... and id like to hear what peoples resolutions have been/are .. in the PC world i love to crank it up as high as my monitor can support, but thats not practical in the car enviroment, so does 640x480 make things too HUGE or 1024x768 too small, i intend to use a front end so .. well whats the word, what works well for you? and why...

thanks a lot, the input i've recieve from this community has already helped more then i ever thought

IMO, 800x600 or 640x480 with a panel size of 12.1" or smaller is perfect for in car use.

1024X768 isn't bad in the car on a 10.4... a frontend pretty much straightens viewability problems right out... I wouldn't not choose a better screen just because it's 1024X768...

I use 1024x768 on a 7" screen. Looks good, pretty crisp text. RoadRunner makes buttons and stuff the same size it seems no matter what resolution. Only thing that changes is text size. I have pretty good eyes though. I can see it perfectly, but my sister struggles.

Using regular XP (to set stuff up, transfer files, solitaire, whatever) it works very well too. You can see all the windows stuff. I made the icons big though for easy clicking (about 1" - 1.5" in the real world).

It is always best to run the screen in it's native resolution. Most front ends will detect the resolution and adjust.
