The one thing that bothers me is the 170cd/m2 brightness. This seems like a very low number.
Is anyone using this LCD? Anyone have any more info at all?
I was just about to order a different Lilliput 10.4". It's a 800x600 model and it's brightness is a more common 350cd/m2.

Here are some of it's specs:
I don't know which would be better, really. I think the 800x600 would work well, but the 1024x768 would show more on the screen and can be run at a lower res if you wanted to. I just don't know. I may go with the brighter one as I already know for sure it will fit in my dash.PHP Code:Display Screen: 10.4” TFT LCD

You didn't say which one. They could have different sized borders around the screen.
If your talking about the 800x600 one, there are pictures and dimensions in the main Lilliput thread. Just one person that I know of has taken it apart. Here's the link:

If you mean the 1024x768 screen, I don't think anyone has info on it. It may be too new. I don't know.

For some reason I doubt the 170 brightness. Maybe it's a misprint? That's why I wanted to get more info on it.
I'll probably get the 800x600, too, but just wanted to make sure.

It looks like that first screen that had the low brightness has changed it's specifications. It now shows to be:
LCD Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast: 200:1
BTW, I just got the 800x600 screen I posted above and I really prefer that resolution. Webpages are very readable. This screen however is not acceptable to me due to the narrow viewing angles.
In order for it to look right you almost have to look up at it or else have the top angled back. In my TA the screen is positioned straight up and down and is about gear shift level so I am looking slightly down at it. From this angle it looks really bad. I'm going to have to send it back and find another screen to use.
BTW, anything other than it's native 800x600 resolution looked really bad also. The only other screens I know of are 1024x768 and that may make the text too small. So it seems I'm screwed.

I just heard back from MP3car store that the new specs on their 1024x768 Lilliput screen are now accurate:
LCD Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast: 200:1
and the earlier specs were incorrect.
The viewing angels are: 45/60(U/D),65/65(L/R). However we haven't had a chance
to confirm them in our lab yet. The brightness is around 300nits and contrast
ratio is 200:1. The first specs posted were most likely inaccurate and the ones
I just mentioned more accurately reflect Lilliput's real performance. Besides
which, Lilliput just changed the LCD panels for the monitors so that had
something to do with it as well.
We are currently out of stock, but we have some LCDs on the way.
Sincerely,
Goce Evtimovski
