    Dual Screens

    Hi all, Ima noob

Anyways, I want to put a carpc in my truck, mainly to store/play music and for gps, maybe OBD2 software. I have a Panasonic touch screen in there right now, and I want to integrade it in with a carpc.

I understand that I cannot use the touch screen part of the panasonic to control the pc, and thats okay. I plan on adding an 8" touch screen under it in the consol that I will use to control the computer.

When I want to listen to music off the computer, I want to be able to have the skin of say mediaplayer on the panasonic screen, and the mediaplayer menu or list of songs in the 8" touch.

Basically, when I turn the Panasonic over to input, the screen goes to black if no video is given to it, there is no way to input audio and have a skin come up with it, unless a skin is given to it to play.

I guess I could run both screens and have them have the same thing going on, but whats the fun in that? Also, if it is possible to have info displayed on the panasonic screen, I'd like to someday have an OBD2 reader thing, and display all the info that the OBD2 scanner is reading in the panasonic screen, and have ls1edit, or tuner cats tuning software in the 8" touch, so that I can recieve data and make changes at the same time.

So is it possible to use my Panasonic screen to show one thing, and have different info on another touch screen that runs the computer?

its hard to explain exactly what I want, hopefully somebody can figure it out and show me the right direction.

    Thanks

Only way I know of to do this is to have two graphics cards or one duel head card. That way you can expand the desktop and show different things on each screen. This assumes both your screens have VGA input into them, I don't think it works like this using svideo.

You could try a USB to VGA adapter like this one http://www.trittontechnologies.com/p...s/TRIUV100.htm

I didn't know stuff like that existed. If it does what it says then yes that would work good.

you can run extended to an svideo/composite screen (via adapter). I have done it to let me watch DVDs on a TV while working.

In the windows display settings, you can choose which display is the 'primary' screen, then after that it just acts like an extended desktop, and you can click and drag windows from one screen to another. Some front-ends also let you choose which display video goes on seperately from the front end itself.
