    Uh-oh, 700M Problems

    Hi all,

After carefully reading through folks' complaints of the 700M, and thoughtfully considering whether to spend a hundred dollars more on similar but more reliable products, I proceeded to spend my hard-earned cash on a 700M (see pic).

It worked fine for approx. 2 months and now I am having issues.

What happens is that when I first power it on it looks OK, receives a video signal and responds to touch input. Within about 10 seconds (less if it has been on recently) the video disappears. I do not get the helpful "disconnector" engrish message, it just goes black. By either powering it back off, then on, or opening/closing the video will reappear, and then wink back out to nothingness.

The other interesting thing is the AV button. I can cycle back through to video 1, but I can't see what I'm doing as it does not display the input names. Once it reaches the computer input, the same thing occurs. Which confirms for me that it is not an issue with my computer display, etc.

It responds to touch input just fine. It opens and closes as well as the .0000001 horsepower motor could be expected to.

I will e-mail the company, but everyone here has been extremely helpful, so I'm hoping for some advice in here. Thanks guys--I'm hoping someone can bring me back from the void that is my 700M.

Stupid question, but have the past 2 months been really hot there wherever you are. Could be heat.

Could also be that there is some power interference going on over the past couple months that have destroyed the chips. Do you have any powerful subs, amps, or something else?

Thanks for the quick reply. It hasn't been hot out of the ordinary, and I don't think I've got anything too powerful that it could be driving it.

But you think one of the chips might be fried? It's odd that it displays for a short while and then goes black.

it sounds like it's either heat or it's a bad solder joint.

I'd send it back to have it checked on.
