Thumbs up Anyone having touchscreen issues, try this....

I think I figured out my problem. When I first put the monitor in the truck, I was powering it from the cigarette lighter, which is always powered, and the touchscreen always worked. I started having problems after I wired it to a switched source (the radio power wire). I had done some other things at the same time, so it never occurred to me that changing the way I had it powered was the cause of all my troubles. Some of the time the monitor was showing up as “unknown device”, other times it wouldn’t show up at all. Sometimes I could unplug, and replug the USB cable, and it would start working.

I have since wired the monitor to my power supply (M2-ATX). I just used an old Molex fan connector to make an adapter. Since I did this, it has worked 100%, and I haven’t had to unplug the USB even once. What I think was happening is that when I turned the key off, the monitor would lose power, and 5 seconds later, when the computer would go into standby without the monitor connected, and upon resuming, would not see it until I would do the whole unplug/replug routine.

So, if you’re having touchscreen issues, tie your monitor into your power supply, and see if it helps.

    Good luck!
    Scott

It's good you figured out how to do it... that is the way that most people do it already.

At least you figured it out yourself, and welcome to the club of using your PSU to power your screen!

Maybe so, but when I was trying to fix my problem, I searched, and found many others having the same issues, and I couldn't find anyone who had found a solution.

Well I say congratulations for figuring it out. And welcome to the forums!

btw, the search feature really kinda sucks here. usually if you do a google search with the mp3car link command you get better results.

Yeah, I know! It's sometimes hard to find something if you don't know what you're looking for, ya know what I mean!
