yes it would work, but it would look gross.
Those are the specs, I heard Road Runner dashboard (and probably most) need a vga monitor. I was going to use a S-video to Video converter cable to get the video, and Headphone jack to RCA audio for the sound output.
I want my labtop to be the media center for my truck as well as navigation (with audio, I got Iguidence, mappoint 2006, and some more) and I got a remote (Snapstream Firefly) and GPS and all the apps, I'm just wondering if this screen (non touch) will be at all worth any effort of programing a dashboard.
Also, wheres a good place to add a touchscreen for later? (visors or where else?) Cause I'm in the front seat more than anywhere else, and this media is for meWould it be worth ditching this old one and getting a $300 touchscreen headunit?
Thanks,
Eric

Cant code cause I dont know how, but give me the paint bucket and my eraser and have at you!
It could work. The problem with outputting on S-video or RCA Composite is that the image quality is nowhere near as clear as it would be with VGA output. There may also be issues having the PC default to output on the TV-out, as well.
You're already aware that you won't have touchscreen functionality.
The touchscreen headunit isn't going to be able to control the PC, either, unless you look into a screen that's specifically designed to control a PC. On a touchscreen headunit (like the ones from Pioneer, Clarion, Alpine, etc.), the touchscreen will only control the functions of the headunit. For retractable in-dash screens that will control the PC, you can check out the store here: http://store.mp3car.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=61Also, wheres a good place to add a touchscreen for later? To add a touchscreen... That really depends on your car, your personal preference. Anything can be acomplished if you're willing to do the work or pay to have it done.
back to square 1.
