If the screen requires regulated 12v power (Lilliput), then yes, you'd have to regulate the ACC line.
Hi.
My carputer project is almost done! My LCD screen just came in this week and all I have to do now is remove my dash and plug everything in (I have everything prewired). I plan on installing everything this weekend, when I dont have any homework. I have done much testing and I am pretty sure this will work. However, my initial designs meant that my LCD screen would run off the 12 volt PSU on my computer. However, I want to run it off the car's electrical system, that way, my screen can still open/close when the computer is off. I already built a 12 volt regulator based on the lm317 chip (for something else) and I would like to use it to regulate the voltage going into my new LCD. My LCD's model is DPI.107B. I think it is equivalent to the MTSVO-SC sold on the mp3car.com store. My question is, if I regulate the voltage powering my LCD screen, does the accessory voltage have to be regulated as well? Is it okay if I just regulate the power in, but not my accessory voltage?
But the ACC line only is used for signal. My +12 volt and ground is what the screen is drawing power from.
i asked this and no one seemed to know
i think the flip out lilli needs power to remeber where to stop too![]()
2001 Passat 130TDi Sport - Via Epia 15000, 1gb, 100gb, 220w psu, 7" lilliput motorized touch (chopped and in dash as a fixed), bluetooth, bu-303 gps, 7 port usb hub, tiny keyboard, netgear 54mb wifi, optima yellow top, ryder rt1170x, freecom dvb
Yea I figure I'll use regulated power direct from the car's battery. That way, I can open and close the screen whenever I want. Eg. I want to be able to close then screen when my computer automatically shutsdown.
where is the best place to get a regulator from? I have never used one, don't even know what they look like....but I know I need one to get rid of the lines on my screen! haha
oh, I am in the UK by the way.
You can build your own regulator. If you have installed a computer in your car, I'm guessing you probably have the skill to make a simple voltage regulator. Here is a very helpful tutorial on building a regulator: http://casemods.pointofnoreturn.org/...rial-full.html
