Sharp introduces high-contrast in-car LCD display

Sharp announced the development of its high-contrast ratio in-car LCD applications and highlighted that the contrast ratio of 1,500:1 achieves the industry's highest level.

The contrast ratio of the latest solution triples the 500:1 contrast from a previous version. Sharp emphasized that its solution has high resistance to vibration and it is reliable over a broad range of temperatures while supplying an unified appearance in contrast with typical black color of instrument panels.

Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

Does anyone know where this display can be acquired? I've googled my heart out and I cant find it anywhere, not even a model number.

Did sharp even go to production with it, or was it just a 'Hey, look at this cool thing. Oh, nevermind, haha'?
