wiring my lilliput to my car directly.

Ok heres the setup Lilliput 7" VGA Touchscreen 629GL-70NP and carpc.
I had already successfully wired my lilliput to my cars wiring by cutting the car adaptor after the fuse egg and running one wire to my ground and one wire to my remote power line. It was working fine for about 3 months when all of the sudden the fuse burned out in the egg thingy and the entire wire burned up. Also the fuse on the lilliput controller board blew. I replaced that and the fuse in the egg thingy and tried to wire it back again the same way but this time as soon as i turn the key on the ignition then the lilliput egg thingy wire starts to get real hot until the rubber around the wire melts. Needless to say at that point i turned off the car and unplugged the power for the monitor. I need a little help here. Am i wiring this the correct way?

For one, I would run the lilliput off of a regulated 12volt line.
Also, I would also not connect it to the remote line.

If you want it to turn on automatically when it recieves power, and to shut off when you turn the car off, you could connect the power to whatever power supply you use (i.e. an opus 150w) and go from there.

When you originally cut the wires, did you check to see which wire was the 12v line and which was the ground?

If you did arbitrarily choose a wire for the ground and 12v, the lilliput most likely has built in polarity protection that would fix that error.

However overtime it could begin to wear on components (my opinion who knows if thats true)
