Touchscreen trouble in transflective paradise

I got my transflective screen delivered in record time, just 5 days to The Netherlands. Great! I spent the next two weeks building it into my little project. The display is very nice and bright, and a lot less glare compared to my previous DigitalWW screen. However, not all is good ...

The touch screen is acting up. It behaves like it's being constantly pushed somewhere in the upper left corner area. This makes it totally unusable.

I read some of the threads leading up to this screen becoming available, and this appearently was a problem initially. MP3Car initially delivered the screen without housing because it wouldn't work well with the touchscreen. They then found 'a fix' and now the monitor comes complete with housing. That's how I got mine.

For me it appears the fix is not enough. Looking at the way the front bulges, it's obvious that the touchpanel is really too thick to fit the housing. Loosening up the attach brackets isn't an option, as they are already so loose that the screws are about to fall out. It also makes me wonder if bumps and vibration wouldn't cause the touchscreen to act as if the edges are being pushed.

Can the touchscreen be replaced by another, thinner model without distroying the optic parameters? Are others seeing the same thing, and has anyone come up with some smart fix yet?

If that is the only problem buy some longer screws. Use some loctite. It does not sound terribly difficult.

Just longer screws won't do. The screws are loose to the point where the LCD and touchscreen are almost able to move around. If I use longer screws and let them stay loose enough so there's no false readings then the LCD and touchscreen will be able to move around freely. I need a fix that will fixate the components but doesn't cause false readings from the touchscreen.

Try putting some double sided tape along the very edge of the TS. Unstick one side and leave the protective backer on the other side. If you cut long slender pieces, put it all around the edge it should help the problem. I also have this problem with my TS and initially it was a real pain. The problem has since resurfaced and is causing me a lot of headaches. But I may just have to loosen the screws on the brackets some more.

Thanks for the tip, Nameeri.

Instead of using tape, I have ran two strands of #24 wire on the inside of the frontpanel, one on each side. This way the very edge of the touchscreen lays on the plastic insulation of the wire and there's enough clearance to make the touchscreen work well. The screws can be tightened properly so nothing shakes loose when in use. You can still see the front panel bulge a bit, but at least the touchscreen works well now.

I'll post a couple of pictures of my project later on, so you'll understand why loose parts are not an option

I got no pictures of the inside itself, but I do have a picture of my little project. It's a RANS S6S Coyote-II. Six years and counting, built from kit. You like?? (BTW, screen is not the transflective one, I took this picture with the old DigitalWW screen in place).
