    Help on LCD screen

    Hi !

I'm just in the process of starting my Car entertainment system, and i have a couple of question on what LCD screen to choose.

i though about a 5-7 Inc screen TFT, I want to be able to use it as a touch screen to avoid keyboard or mouse. I want to be able to watch DVD, DIVX, play Games , use it for all the normal computer usage.

I has to be able to display TV signal as well, also be visable in daylight and in good resolution (for games )

    the questions !

What are the things I need to consider when I look for a screen ?
I of course want it as cheap as possible, but I'm prepared to pay a little extra to get a good one.

Please help , sice I have never worked with LCD's before so I don't know all the info and things I need to consider.

    Thanx !

Here is my general rule of thumb. All the tft's are basically the same res as all the others. Here is the specs on mine..

    Dot Resolution: 269.568
    Active Area: 138.24 (W) x 103.43 (H) mm
    Screen Size 6.8" Diagonal Length
    Brightness: 250 nit

The first two are pretty standard with any tft screen around 6-7 inches. The big one that would should look for is the brightness and this is measures in nits. Anything over 200 i consider very good and should see it pretty well in direct sunlight. A lot of the cheap ones will have i think 80nit. I'd rather spend a bit more money on a bright screen so i can see it in the daytime.

Ok, but what about resolution ?

    640 * 480 or 800 * 600

because otherwise I will have some issues reading the icons in the OS ?? Or am I wrong ...

    Thanx for the reply

btw hijinks21 where did you get your LCD ? Do use a Digital Graphic card or just Composite or TV-Out.
