    Question Re-use of touchscreen glass

I have here two different touchscreens

The first one is whit a defect backligth.
The second one whit a broken touchscreen glass

My idea is to use the (good) touchscreen glass of the screen with bad backlight on the other screen.

Both glass have the same connectors on the cable.

Can I just connect the good glass to the touchcontroller of the second monitor???

or will this give some problems????

So what I really means is just do a exchange.Result, one broken monitor with bad touchglass and a good working monitor using a new glass.

MOST LIKELY, it will work. Better to change the controller and the TS as well, just incase there are differences in the wiring.

Problems is that the controller on the monitor without backlight is on the motherboard.

and on the other monitor where I need a new TS for is a seperate one.

I just try it , but no luck I connected the new TS to the controller of the old TS and connected averything in the car.
Wanted to calibrate but nothing happens

I also turned the connector 180degrees to see if would work , but no luck eather.

Try removing and then reintalling the TS drivers. That might work.

You may have to buy a complete TS and controller. DigitalWW has them, and they are not THAT expensive I don't think.

I know. I saw the panel for $ 50. Thats not the problem.

But because I have a working TS panel here wanted to see if I could get it to work.
Know I was trying to find out what kind of connector there are on this TS panels, and I found a Dutch site where you can buy a new TS panel. Here you can find some PFD files and they all show the same configuration on the TS panel.

    pin 1 = YU=up
    pin 2 = XL=left
    pin 3 = YD=down
    pin 4 = XR=right

HERE you can see the files (go at the middle, ther you see some blue links)

Now I wonder if this is a standard way of connect a TS panel.

I will know try to install the drivers. See what happends

You mentioned the TS cracked on the unit, perhaps the crack messed up the TS controller, or the Controller is just bad, that is why the "working" TS is not working with the screen with the working backlight.

But, lets say that the controller is bad. Would this not be visible in XP. (no TS controller found!!)

About the other TS panel, I made a mistake. I was looking at the drawings from digitalww and find out the right configuration for the connector

    pin 1=down
    pin 2=right
    pin 3=up
    pin 4 =left

As i have the same controller as you can buy at digitalww, i asumed that my cracked panel should have the same connector.

After looking at it , it was. And the new one as also the same configuration.
Only problem is that the connector from the cracked one is on the right (where the controller is) and the new one on the left.

So when I installed the new panel, I did it whit the connector on the right, and that means that the touch part is against the screen
and it should be opposite of that.It should fase on the outside to make it possible to touch it.

Now I connected al the right way, and now am gonna try if it works.

    Lets hope

    YES YES YES YES

    IT WORKS

Glad that I dont need to buy a new one. Only problem is that this TS panel is not that clear as the original one.
Whit that one I could see all very well even during daylight.

And whit the panel I installed now It was not that clear on my older screen.

Hopefully the TFT screen it self is more bright than the old one, to make this less a problem.

Will se tomorrow while driving home

Men , am I glad that this screen is back alive
