I think it would be easier if you mounted a security camera on the garage and had a small screen inside the garage. If you are really only going to use it when you are pulling out of the garage, there is no need to take it with you on the car.![]()
The garage doors open, I honk my horn but still. People are walking out in front of me as if they cannot be hurt! And I have to keep the speed up since the exit is very steep, or burn my clutch.

Has anyone installed a sideview camera in the front of the car to watch out for pedestrians when exiting a garage? Any other purpose?
I would like to do this with a prism (plexi) shaped like an 'M' in front of the camera so that I get a right and a left view with the same camera.
I guess that if I mount the camera upside down, mirror and rotate the picture it would look as expected on the screen.
Would be great to use sceen composite input directly since a USB camera is very heavy for the PC to drag around. And I have not found a program that will view the USB-camera picture. Is it possible to mirror and rotate a composite input or has it got to be sw controlled picture then?
Now, how enable it? I honk my horn before sticking the nose out the garage over the sidewalk. Maybe the camera should be enabled everytime the horn is honked? Or headlights flashed. Always 30s or until second gear or other button is pressed?
How install it so that its not stolen or damaged by a careless parker?
Thoughts in the matter?

I have now found that there is an OEM part!
Anyone retrofitted one and interfaced it to a carputer?
