    parallel port/cable - which is pin 1 ???

OK... I'm wanting to make sure of some details here. I have a schematic for my LCD here:

    http://www.eio.com/lcd2014.htm

My question is, on that schematic, the parallel port graphic, is that the port itself, or the connectors on the plug that plugs into the port? I mean, what view is that of the port? Are we looking at the port from the outside in, or the inside out? I'm assuming the view is of the port on the PC, from the outside. Do you know what I mean? It makes a difference. I'm asking because I have a parallel cable that doesn't have all 25 wires, and I'm not sure which way is which... Is it standard nowadays to have all 25? Is there a name for this? Straight through? Please clarify

If you look closely at the connector it should have tiny little numbers by each pin.

Alot of LPT cables only have wires connected to the pins that are used, which is about half of them. Althought some are fully connected. For way your doing it doesn't matter which type of cable you use.
And you say people actually pay money for M$ Windows?

Total re-design underway: on the whole progress is very slow as the car is taking up too much time :)
