Size you should take? i can't help you with that, that's up to you, for refference, my screen is a 10.4", 18 bit and 350nits, i'm going to use it with GPS (hope that some company start supporting my country a bit more), DVD, DivX., but smaller will work well too.

About the DVI, yes, those controllers are for connecting the graphic cards of the PCs that have this type of connection. but pay attention that those, i think, connect to LVDS pannels.

Pay attention to nits (200 minimum) and bits of color (12 is OK but 18 it's excelent).

You should try ebay for the screen, you can get good deals. The controller it's a bit harder to get and for that i recommend spending a bit more and buy it from a company like the one's i told you, you'll spend 200€ to 250€.

I had 2 deals on ebay - 1 good and my F**in 5.6" TFT which cost me today 210€

So I only wanna do ebay deals if nessecary

200€ is not cheap but since my car doesnt have the place for 15" TFT :-) i'll see if I could get a 10" one -
I have one at home but only with 256 color and don't know how many nits .-

How much did you pay for your screen and controller ?

My controller cost me 215€, turned out to be 240€ with shipping but in the end turned out to be 270€ cause my bank ripped me off when i made the transfer to TSOUBIS.

The screen was bought on ebay by a member from this forum cause at the time the guy who was selling it wouldn't ship internationaly so i asked to someone to buy it and then ship it to me, it costed me 100€ with shipping and a litlle extra for the member who bought for me.

It was a bit expensive, but i've been fortunate in other aspects, like my power supply, cost me nothing cause i managed to get all the parts for free, including 15 47uH chokes from coilcraft (all of them in use so i can't give them away, so, please don't ask if i can spare a couple, cause i can't). The PC that i'm going to use (AMD K6-2 @500Mhz, 128Mb RAM, Riva TNT 16Mb) was also for free, my school had a few just lying around and i asked if i could have one, since it was there just sitting and collecting dust, they agreed

Just a side note, my controller arrived yesterday, but bacause i wasn't home the post man took it back, now i'll have to pick it up in the post office on monday, i'll take some pictures and then post 'em here.
