I can't see this being easily possible. These are manufacutred units not something you buy from Earth LCD.

    Hey Skippman check out:

    this thread

Particularly what Whaleboy says when he talks about asking Xenarc and they say the brightness is upgradeable upon request.

Yeah so, lets all go for 400-500 nit and be happy

Um...he also mentioned that they won't upgrade the brightness unless it was a large order. I'm going to go out on a limb and say an order of 15-20 screens does not qualify...

It's such a waste then to have this kind of screen in my opinion, unless of course you have some way of blocking out sunlight. For those of you who don't know...200 nits is BARELY readable in direct sunlight, and this screen is what, 180 nits? The Lexus and Mercedes which have navigational screens are 400 nits from what I've read, and appropriately so.

I don't know where you intend to place your screen but the dash area in my m3 is *almost* never in direct sunlight... unless I have my moonroof open then there is a posibility

If I read that threat that you linked to correctly SuperMatty, blitzkoo stated that he had no problems seeing his Xenarc and that the Panisonic TFT they are using is around 400 Nits.

Unless this is going to be mounted where the sunlight directly hits on it I don't think it should be a problem.

yah, i remember something too about the brightness actually being much, much higher than what was on their web site. another thing you have to remember is that there is no good way to determine brightness. tomshardware ragged all over viewsonic in their LCD panel reviews today, because viewsonic changed their specs in the middle of the reviewing period. Personally, i like the 25ms MVA viewsonic panels, but that is for another time...
