Hey everyone... I had another thread going, about just receiving my Xenarc NON touchscreen. It looks great! As clear as my computer monitor right in front of me, just tiny.

I was reading earlier posts and it seemed that there was some confusion about inputs and such. Both versions have the VGA, but one has the 3 extra video inputs also. My cable is like 4-5 ft long and splits about a third from the end into 2 cables, then at the end of the AV one you have the 3 video inputs. From the screen controls, you select the source.

This may have been obvious to some people, but maybe it helped others. Its like 3:00 am, and I am worn out....too late. Worked on this darn screen when I should've been packing!

How do you set up a resolution different than the regular ones (800x600 or 640x480)?
exactly what i pointed out even thoug i think i said 800x430 instead of 800x480. Still can the OS (win*) display correctly.

Once again, using Power Strip allows you to set odd resolutions not normally available with standard display drivers. Though as I understand it, you can also make manual registry entries if you feel so inclined, but using Power Strip appears to be the easiest option.

They say a resolution as high as 800x480, but as low as 640x480. Running 640x480 on an LCD with a 16:9 ratio (widescreen) will produce a stretched picture, with an incorrect aspect ratio, as the signal being sent is an almost square picture being produced on a rectangular display.

Which is fine if you don't mind things just looking somewhat stretchy. Of course, this depends on how this LCD handles the signal, it may have an option to either keep the correct aspect ratio and just not utilize the extra space on the screen, or stretch it to your hearts content. My plasma tv here at the house does this.

The additional 160 pixels at 800x480 is for the additional width of the screen.

Windows itself will run whatever resolution you or a hardware vendor decides to include in the display drivers - your resolution limitations are not with windows itself, but are based solely on if your hardware (display) can support it or not (example: most CRT monitors can't go below 640x480).

And as the specs indicate, this LCD does support a resolution of 800x480, so simply modifiy your current flavor of windows in the registry, or with Power Strip to run that resolution, and your all set!

    Skippman,

I think that we should get the touchscreen version with the VGA and AV connectors. I know that they are two different models that we can choose from (with or without AV).

This way we can use the display as a monitor for the carputer but also to connect any video like PS1, TV or DVD without the carputer.

I appreciate all the work you are doing and I know that you already mention this to the sales people but Cng1 is confirming that this is possible to get.

The problem is if we get those units there will be an increase in cost. That's somthing I would have to put to a vote of the group. But I will ask Jason if this is possible.

I think that if we are already going to spend about $500. $20 or $30 more will be smart to spend so we can have more uses for the display.

    Think of the posibilities!!!!!!

    Cool

I am not in If we don’t get the VGA/composite combo. I can get the VGA unit with cable for $495. I definitely need composite video in for my standalone portable DVD player. I don’t want to cause any disruption to the group buy. Because it doesn’t look like we are getting a substantial discount, I may just order one from spysupply007.

    Exclamation

Spy Supply will be raising thier rates after the next shippment of screens. I have this from the SpyDude himself, the guy who runs the site. In addition, the $495 model you are thinking of is NON touchscreen.

I could change the group buy to non-touchscreens but I'm pretty sure that everyone want's the touchscreen.

BTW Hotwater, I suggest you check SpySupply web site today. Thier now $525. So our deal is now good for almost $50 off of retail. Hate to say "told you so", but I did.
