A few problems I have with my carpc's display

    Hi guys,

My carpc is ready! hurray, I will soon post pictures and specs of everything,
before I do that I'd like to make sure everything works smoothly...

I have some problems with my LCD touch-screen (Xenarc in-dash VGA):

    1. I have annoying interference 50% of the time (happens with the car engine is either running or not), the interference look like "classical" RF TV interference where I have some 1cm lines across the monitor jumping up and down. The display is usable - but this is still annoying, some info about the cable - I purchased a thick 5M vga cable from office-depot, I know it's probably not the best cable in the world but I don't remember seeing such effect when I plugged it into the carpc before installing everything, in addition - the waves sometimes disappear for a while. The carpc is in the trunk.

    2. My touchscreen mouse sometimes refuses to work when I turn on the computer until I either disconnect the USB cable or shutdown the monitor and restart it.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

sounds like your cheap vga cable doesn't have adaquate shielding, and is picking up interference from other cables (power probably) try either running the vga on the other side of the car, or buy a better quality one.

Reguarding the TS, are you powering up completely, or resuming from hibernation/standby? Sometimes after resuming, some USB devices wont work. There is a program from microsoft I think that will disconnect and reconnect to the usb device.

    Hi,
I am powering the computer up after it was turned off.
There is NO power running on the side of the car, the power to the amps is going through the other side... do you still think it is bad shielding? did you (or anyone else for that matter) ever used a 5M VGA cable without any problems?

    Thanks.
