Lilliput 629GL - screen mount into shell?

Ok, i'm in the market for a touchscreen and i've found what looks like my weapon of choice, a second hand Lilliput 629GL. I own a VS Holden Commodore (Australian) and have been looking at another thread showing one put in the centre console on one of these vehicles, see here - http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...616#post955616

Now in these pictures, the person has molded a "frame" or "skeleton" of the screen into the dash first which means they haven't had to mold the entire screen in there all at once, only deal with the skeleton. I assume the actual screen on it just clips in or something on that one?

The question i have is are all lilliput screens like this? Where you can seperate the frame from the screen for mounting purposes and then put it back together once it's molded in? I emailed the seller about the 629GL and he said that this one just had the stand that it sits on for benchtop use but didn't seem to think it had this "skeleton" i talked about. As i think about it more though, i was thinking that maybe the other car shown in the link above unscrewed the front of the screen first or something rather than it being a clip design at all and hence why the seller of the 629GL would say it doesn't have it...

I suppose what i really want to know is, does the Lilliput 629GL have a means of mounting it that lets you seperate the actual touchsreen from the frame you mold in first? On a side note, are these frames a replacable item that can be bought seperately or is it all or nothing? Any help is much appreciated, cheers, Bryce.

Yes, yes and yes. Once you dismantle the screen, you can remove the BEZEL from the actual screen and do all your fabrication on that without hurting the screen in the process. Once it's ready to install, pop the screen back into the bezel and install as a unit. If you screw up the fabrication, you cab purchase new bezels online either from lilliput or ebay has some on occassion.

yeah, don't forget to take lots of pictures of the process and throw them up in the fabrication board. Do a little showing off, get a lot of feedback. good luck!

Further to his question. Is it just a few screws to take off and then remove the screen form the housing or is there any unsoldering of wires or any sort?
