Ive recently purchased an Newaye in dash (link to site below), but havent seen any posts about it. Im wondering if anybody has used or has this monitor. Im not to the point of installing it yet, so i wanted to get some feedback while i could still send it back.
It appears to be a sweet *** deal...maybe too sweet.

Also like the one sold on ebay (which is the Lilliput):

I would like some personal feedback on this rebranded model. From my poking around, it looks like built in fm/am tuners are useless in all vga touchscreens. They all use the same type and they all produce a staticy source. Can anybody with this screen chime in with their experience with it?
I have the same unit ( GL701-NPCT) from Evertek/Geeks.com. It is a rebranded Lilli. The FM tuner works OK, no static, but nowhere near being a proper headunit replacement because of some serious lapses.
I did not receive the instructions and I still cannot figure out how to set the clock, the radio presets, or anything else tuner related (If anyone can provide the instructions, that would be great ).
The control system is kinda funky, using the right side control as a joystick to select presets and tune stations. Also the clock displays seconds. Who needs to know the time to the second?
Also, I get no AM signal whatsoever. The GL701-NPCT claims AM and it tries to tune to it, but nothing with the stock antenna plugged in. I used to get a good signal with the stock Honda radio.
However, given the problems this unit had in its initial iterations, it is worlds better now. I have not had it fry out or the gears break yet...
Later..
here's a link to the manual for you

I know about the joystick being funny. My new kenwood deck has one and man does it take some getting used to. It is not as precise as actual buttons and I don't know if I'm feelin it. Maybe in time. L8r
Cheers Blue Stivo for the manual. I hadn't even looked for it yet and now I don't have to. Perhaps now my clock won't be 6 hours off.
I don't think the joystick is really funny, sorry for the improper wording. However, it is a little loose feeling and is, as you said, different than using buttons, which generally have a more positive feel to them. My only wish is that the joystick would interface as a controller to the PC.
Does your AM reception work OK? Also, how about the brightness and readability in daylight. I tweaked with the settings and the skin and got it almost usable except at the brightest time of day.
Thefdog, a million times thank you! I didn't know they sold this at Geeks.com so I checked it out and it was $350, but after taxes and everything ended up being close to $400. Then it went on sale the next day for $300 so after taxes, waste disposal fee, and shipping it came out to $335! Great deal and it was the last one in stock! If you guys like this unit, keep your eyes peeled on the site to see if they get more in stock.
EDIT: There is 1 more left at the $299.99 price so somebody jump on it! Sale ends tonight!

I don't think this unit has a tv tuner because the hole to plug in the antenna appears to be plugged. Kinda sucks.
Sorry to revive this old thread, but I was wondering if anybody has tried using the built-in amp in this unit. If so how good is it? I'm trying to not buy another amp if I can get away with using the one that is built-in. Keeping the volume control is an added benefit.
