I'm having the hardest time deciding.... Lilliput 8" or Xenarc 8"

I am just simply torn between the two. I had a lilli 7" and hated the fact that it was made so cheaply. It broke and I was frustrated. I bought a Xenarc 7 which I loved. Eventually had a second Xenarc 7. I thought I'd never consider another Liliput, but thinking about upgrading to 8" for the new truck, I am faced with a $178 price difference and the thought that maybe Lilliputs are better now then when I first deal w/ them over 2 years ago. I'm just having a hard time deciding. Anything anyone can say to get me off the fence is appreciated. Or, actually, while I'm up here, maybe you just want to throw rocks at me. That would be ok too.

My Ex-Audio (7") is of good quality. The screen is bright and readable. It withstood me taking it apart quite a few times.

I personally can't justify $200 for build qualitry. My screen is going on 1 year. I have tortured this screen and it is still fine. For the first couple weeks I actually used unregulated car power, no problem. I also blew up some chip the board that enables 800x600 resolution, and the rest of the resolution ranges still work.

    I like my lilli rip-off...

I really don't know that 200 buck justified the "quality".
I don't own any Xernac but I have a Lilliput for over 2 years without a single problem.
Normally, if it die, it will be the first couple months. That is what warranty is for (given that you don't taking it apart). ALso if it does die, with a little more, you can buy another Lilliput.
And I think that Lilliput quality today is much better than what it was 2-3 years ago. I haven't see that many people complain on the lilliput lately. But also note that most people broke the lilliput back then, simply careless when they taken apart.

Yeah, I was happy with the Xenarc over the Lilli back then, at that time it wasn't a huge price difference to upgrade to the Xenarc. But $180 is crazy! Like you said, I could ALMOST buy 2 Lillis. The only big gripe I had w/ lilli was the stupid locking system for the ribbon, the plastic lever that broke if you looked at it. But being my first monitor, I probably wasn't as careful.

I also don't think that the Lilli 8 is 4:3, but I think I read that it looks great at 800x600 and I know there is an easy reprogramming method to gain auto-on feature.

When I had 800x600, it looked awesome! And 1024x768 looks really good too. A little fuzz on text in Windows, but other than that, perfect.

And that big ribbon cable connector is still snap-off-happy, but no problems for me yet! knock on wood 3 times!

The lcd is on of the most important part of the carpc. It means everything! Make it your weakest link... u kow the rest. With a good LCD, you set it and forget it.

Agreed. But the lilliputs and Xenarcs are the same nowadays. The only "better" screen would be the transflective. That is an area where it does matter, and there are more than enough threads on that!

I'd rather be with a company I can trust and has had a good long lasting rep, but since the two monitors are just about identical now-a-days, I say it all depends on ur pocket. You will be happy either ways just like others have.
