Having Trouble With My Touchscreen, I know you guys must get sick of hearing this

    Hi guys,

I have been browsing and searching the forums for quite a while trying to find some topics that relate to the problem i am having but i am unable to find anyone that has had the same problems as i am having.

I am having real trouble with my new touchscreen, now i know you lot must get really fed up with people just posting problems all the time but i am absolutely lost and i know you guys know your stuff.

Basicly the touchscreen will sometimes work and other times not.

Sometime i boot up and it will work for a couple of minutes and then stop working, then it will be a few days later and then it will work again.

Now im pretty sure its drivers or something software related. Its almost as if after a minute or two something loads up or something interferes with the touchscreen and stops it from working.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here.

    Thanks
    Adam

if it works at all i doubt its drivers.. i'd suspect its a power issue.. what do you have ur touchscreen hooked up to? (hub, powered hub etc)

Well When it was set up in my bedroom it was was powered by the house power and in the car using an inverter!

I do think it could be a power issue as i am using a converter as it came with a chinese power adaptor.

I have ordered a proper incar converter so i should be able to power it properly.

Its just such a strange problem, last night i was using it for an hour and then it just stopped working.

He means the USB power. The touchscreen part is powered from the USB.

I had the same problem... Go into your Device Manager, open the properties for each device under the USB section. Click the 'Power Management' tab. Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Do this for ALL USB devices.

I have the touchscreen hooked up to a hub that is connected to a powered hub.

Cutrara: I had a look around but that option is grayed out and i am unable to check or uncheck the box.

Could it be that there are two many connections (ie Hubs) between the Mobo and the touchscreen?

    Thanks for your help

As a rule of thumb and for a completely unexplained reason, touchscreens really don't like extension hubs! They want ROOT hubs!

If your mobo has 2 usb ports. Plug the touchscreen directly into 1 port, and the other can have all the extension hubs. Believe me, it just works that way.

What you are describing is extremely common with a touchscreen through a hub. It has to do with the way windows interacts with hubs and touchscreens just don't like that to put it simply. Also GPS pucks sometimes like direct root connections as well, but not as much.

Just plug it in straight and hopefully your problems will go away.

Well i have been playing around so much with it all and still no luck.

The screen does work directly into PC's but the problem is my carpc is in the boot and obviously the screen is up front.

I have tried the screen with the extension lead to the powered hub and also into the mobo, and still nothing.

The thing that really bugs me is that my lilliput worked off of a hub powered by another hub fine. Would i be right in thinking that it was purely because lillput are better quality? I so wish some thieving bastard never stole my lilliput! Its ruined everything!!

Anyway does anyone have anymore ideas?

I know its probably a silly question but is it possible to convert the usb to ps2 and plug it in the mouse port?

Thanks for your help so far guys, your the only place on the internet i can turn to and actually talk to people who know what im talking about!

    Keep the good work up!
