Hi
Anyone that has used Rich's bezel (www.mybimmer.net)...
Does the bezel fit in the slot with the back casing fitted, from the posts i have read ive concluded that the back has to be removed or it wont fit, have looked at some completed projects using bezel, but they dont elaborate on how it was fitted, is this the case?
If so how have you secured the Xenarc to the bezel?

Check out these pics by srcst.
any idea what the part no of this carrier the bezel is going in?
the one in already has the 2 slots for the radio and the ac controls hence it wont fit, without this the bezel wont go in on its own?
also what have you done with the back of your xenarc case, since it wont fit in with that as well do you glue/tape it?
cheers!

In order to get the Zee in you've got to remove the casing because rich's bezel is made to use the existing mounting screws to mount on the back of the bezel shown on the 1st pic. Take a look at the small holes on the back of the bezel there are about four or five this is where you mount the display almost identical to the Zee's original bezel.
Now the BMW back casing it needs a little modification as shown in the pic's start by cuting away a little at a time and then checking for a sure fit might take a few tries. I pulled it out of the dash in orrder to have a good handle on it while using small shears then filling down the rough edges.
Made it where the fit is tight enough to keep the Zee's back plate (the small loose one) right up againts it.
thanks, ive done that but once the xenarc is screwed into the bezel, there is a circuit board that sits on top attached with a few ribbon cables (also has all the power buttons, power connector, vga in and led's on it) i just need to know how everyone secured it to the bezel?
cheers

i just used an adhesive to secure it (also recommend to a friend by a tech from xenarc).
instead of ordering a new carrier piece...i just hacked up the one that secured my business cd in place. i was doing the install after the dealership closed and didn't want to wait another day to order the part.
also, be sure to remove the speaker from the board. u won't need it.
thanks, where did you secure the board to? im thinking of doing it to the carrier itself ive hacked it up so that it will fit now, and there enough slack on the ribbon cables to reach there...
Can you recomend the glue that you used, this isnt really my area of expertise ha ha!
cheers

At first I had used hot glue but quikly realized that it was contributing the lcd's back heat which I didn't want. So now I use velcro that has a strong adhesive on it and mount it to the center tongue of the back modified casing.
You can find this velcro in your local hardware, auto shop or even HomeDepot let's not forget our trustee RadioShack. Oh it comes in clear and black finish and the best part is it's made from 3M which is Hi/Temp and Hi/Strength.
