It depends. If the menu of the Lilli offers this feature, then yes. Otherwise you have to Do-It-Yourself.
I do not think the Lilli could have a separate extrenal EEPROM (but not impossible, because I have never seen a Lilli panel), where the texts are stored. I strongly believe it is in-built.
The simpliest method to overcome this problem is to interrupt the backlight enable signal or the backlight low voltage power side. So the message is on, but it is not visible on the black screen without backlight.
Then the computer can activate this by LPT or serial or other method.
You can also build a small circuit (advisably with a PIC) that monitors the hsync signal and inhibits the backlight wire when there is no signal.
