    Legacy LCD and XP HELP!!!

    Hi All,

I am hoping someone has come accross this. I am building a car mp3 player on the epia board with a c3-800. Here is where it gets interesting: When I connect a TV, VCR, CamCorder etc to the RCA plug on the board, and then choose TV from the driver section, this seems to work just fine. I get a display on these devices.

I now have a Legacy LCD (lsc 5) screen that I will use in my car, and no matter how I connect it, when I go to choose the TV out, it is grayed out! I am running XP, and it seems to be autodetecting, and then either enabling or disabling this feature. Why does it NOT detect the LCD Screen?????

Does XP send some sort of a signal to determine if a TV is really connected? How can I disable this, and have TV output ON all the time?? so that it displays on the LCD

THANK YOU for any help or ideas...I AM STUMPED!!!

I"m using that board with XP and i'm pretty sure it's not xp or the driver.. Many tv outs sense to see if a device is connected by checking the resistance.. If you wire a 75ohm resister on there it should fix it. I'm not really sure where you are supposed to do it but if you search the forums I'm sure you'll find it... It's been brought up a few times.

If that doesn't solve it.. I'm not sure what will... Does the Legacy screen work with any other input?

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation

Yeah, I had to do this. I had to do a bit of an experiment 'cause I couldnt find an exact description of how to connect it up.

Basically, connect one end of the resistor to the center pin, and the other to the outer ground shield. Thats it. Doesnt matter where on the cable you do it, some people reccomend getting one of those RCA connecters where the cover comes off to solder the connections, and you can stick a small resisitor in there for neatness. I just spliced into the cable halfway long, since its hidden in the car bodywork anyway.

Also, it doesnt have to be exactly 75ohm, there just needs to be an approximate resistance. I used a 68ohm resistor and it works fine.

    I had the same problem,
I used a 100 Ohm resistor , and it is working now.

    Thanks
