I have almost the exact same year Honda Accord. If you do want to keep your existing Alpine unit, you can buy a third din attachment kit and put a flip up monitor in there.



There are a few other people on this forum, that I have seen, that has the same generation Accord and they usually fabricate the bezel to fit a 7" monitor in there. IMO, I think that way looks the best. A little cutting and bondoing is all that is needed; nothing major.



As for PC locations.......I think that the trunk is one of the best places to put it. It allows for almost any type design to be implemented without the hassle of trying to save space. Cooling would probably be mush easier to achieve in the trunk since it is in a more open area. Others have put the actual PC components in-dash too.

Hey. Thanks for the advice of the 3rd din attatchment. I might just order it to see how much clearance it allows for and that sort of thing. I really want to keep a deck so I don't have to use the PC all the time and for XM. Maybe I could go with an alpine single DIN DVD in the third DIN and put a 7" screen in the dash.. I could keep my signal processor that way, which allows for the use of optical, nice crossover and 31 band graphical or 5 band parametric for every channel.

For the attachment, check ebay, some of the honda kits can be found cheaper through a seller called ballwin auto supply (or something similar)

Although, it's only available under the 1998-2000, 2001-2002 doesn't offer it. I don't know how much difference is there

You can purchase it on handaccesories.com. From what I've seen, the third din attachment works in the 2001-2002 Accords also.

I wanna get my hand on one of those 3rd DIN attachment kit too. I look it up and doesn't seem to cost a lot.

I purchased the 3rd DIN attachment kit from HandA-Accessories like the one below

The first one they send me had one tab broken. I think that was due to the heavy brackets and stuff inside cause during transportation. I email them and they send me a new kit. This time they pack a little better with stuffing inside the factory box to prevent the bracket moving around. Got it in perfect condition.
Seem to be a very nice place. Total cost about 30 bucks including s/h and tax. I went to local Honda auto salvage (they do have new parts as well). They want 58+tax. Stealership want 75+tax. I told them HandA sale it for 30 bucks shipped to my door. They said it must be an aftermarket kit (Metra ...). I told them nop, there is no aftermaket for that part, it's 110% Honda part. They said go ahead and get it from HandA, and I did. Normally, I want to give local shop business if the price isn't that much different. in this case, it is almost double. Shipping isn't an issue, from NorCal to SoCal only take 2 -3 days ground. Regardless, I won't be able to touch it for another month or 2.

Currently, the car (2K) has a single DIN HU with a pocket. The 3rd DIN kit will house the HU leaving the top double DIN for a 7" TS .
BTW, it's my wife car so I try to keep everything as factory as possible and ease to use. The important thing is ease of reverse back to original.
