I am new to car computer feild and have been using ubuntu for a little while now. I really wanted to use a linux OS for my car pc so I chose Linux Ice. I installed a fresh version of it and it loads up great. The problems I am having is it will not let me configure my system, run touch calibration, load music, access internet, well pretty much nothing at all. you may want to run "sudo icetouch" from the terminal. If you haven't run iceconfigure after you installed, icetouch doesn't work.

How do you access the internet? Ethernet? Wifi? If it's ethernet, it should just work. Wifi is another story... You may need to connect via ethernet to get initial internet to do some updating, download the drivers your card may need, etc.

The easiest way to add media is to copy it to your mp3's to the "music" folder in your home directory and reboot. nGhost should see them next time it comes up.

The CD/DVD buttons don't do anything in that version. You are not doing anything wrong there.

Did you by chance watch the "geek my ride" LinuxICE walk-through? It covers some of the troubles you are experiencing.

Thank you for the response. I will check out that geek my ride and see what is going on there. I also wanted to say that the touch panel does work but I am not able to calibrate it. I also can not run ice configure it just says configuring and 15 min later still does not do anything. I will try the sudo command and see what happens. As far as internet goes it is through a wifi usb adapter (belkin N wireless) I have no access to a hard line for my internet. I share a open broadcast from my surrounding community. I know I know. I also wanted to watch some DVD movies but to do that I have to rip them to my HD and then restart.....8.01 gigs for 1 movie makes that suck big time(not bashing) Well I will try again to see what happens but if you have any ideas on how to get the wifi working without a hard line please let me know as I really really really dont want to run windows.
