    Silverwolf 3?

    Hey everybody,

It's been forever since I've posted here. I've been so busy with other things I pretty much dropped Silverwolf 2 development and since moving back to the United States I haven't gotten around to putting the latest version archives back up on the new server. Which leads me to my question...

I don't even know what's available for Linux right now as it's been well over a year since I've done anything actively wrt car pc development. Is starting development on Silverwolf 3 a worthwhile endeavor? Are there already really decent projects available that are easy to install and use that would make it kind of pointless? The skin options in Silverwolf 2 were endless but editing the skin file was so daunting only a few people ever tried making their own

If anybody might be interested in a new Silverwolf frontend, especially for Linux (the first two were exclusively for linux, the first being an embedded option) I'd like to hear from you. Whether it actually happens or not I can't say but I don't want to start a big project if there are already several out there that everybody is perfectly happy with.

    It's good to be back

    Silverwolf 3...?

well, if you'll accept a really biased opinion, I think your efforts would be maximized by working on nGhost3 with me :P.

We started developing it a few months back. We have a basic Qt+Clutter based toolkit going. But work on actual apps hasn't started yet. I know you are a big fan of Qt. Waddaya say?

My time is extremely limited but I'm not completely against co-development

And yes I'm a big Qt fan. I haven't dug into the new Phonon support classes in Qt yet but if there is enough interest I'd kind of like to explore that option.

Obviously if you want to try out Linux car software, I highly recommend the fantabulous OBD GPS Logger :-D

But if you want a full carpc, linuxICE would be greatly, greatly helped by more developers.

ng3 is a good bet for people with little free time. The way ng3 works now is completely modular + multi-process design. Write a simple plugin. Improve on it when you have time.

Phonon is really nice. I think you'll like it.
