resolution can be changed by changing in the xrandr line in /etc/matchbox/session.

Take a look at Apps->Applications->Volume Control. Also, if you click on the media icon on the icepanel, you will have easier to access volume control for nghost.

The dvd issue is honestly something i never tested. My setup doesn't have a cd/dvd drive and probably never will. Optical storage is so 90's hehe. DVD should be easy to fix in the skin though. When you get to the point where you are editing the skin, let me know.

PS. your account in the openice forum is active now.

OK, I connected my media drive to the PC. I decided to test playing a movie through Ubuntu since I havent edited the file to point it to my media in nGhost. I am not really use to all this file editing. I hit play on the movie and waited, and waited, and waited some more. When it finally decided to play it paused alot. I dont think that thumb drive can pass enough information fast enough. If I use only the OS its fast, but once you involve media files, its pure cr@p on a thumb drive.

I decided to just buy 20GB HDD drives for $13.49 each. I already had one, so I bought 5 more. If the HDD break, which I doubt, I will have an image to restore anyone. This was a nice test but the slowness of thumbdrives just isnt good enough more media.

This is obviously kev's area of expertise so i'll let him give the step by step. But I would recommend you don't go with read only...just minimize disk use. Step 1 would would be to remove the swap partition-its not needed with a gig of ram. You want things like settings or internet data saved to the local drive which is pretty tough if its read only.

I installed it on the HDD, and it doesnt seem to be working as good as I thought. I am getting alot of driver error all of a sudden. Could it be my USB to SATA converter? Alot of options seem to be different and others are missing.

They are SATA, but the PC i am using them on doesnt have SATA so I am using a SATA to USB. Maybe its not plug and play with LinuxICE. I get alot of driver missing when I start and shut down LinuxICE. I think maybe Windows is going to have to stay the OS. I do however want to put LinuxICE on my designing PC because the skinning aspect of it has my attention. I think LinuxICE has alot of potential there.

Now because LinuxICE makes ext3 partition, how and what do I use to edit the skins? My design PC uses windows and I have Adobe Master Suite, and would like to use that to design LinuxICE skins. I remember you saying that putting the file system into FAT32 will not work that good, but all I really need is access to the skins, and then be able to test them.

for purposes of testing, create a fat32 system. But i wouldn't make a fat32 partition on any production machine i used... not unless i want fsck going all the time. In production, you'll have sata drives hooked up to sata ports right?

Also, exactly what are the warning messages you see related to missing drivers? they may not be related to the drives.

The production PC is actually my old Car PC retired to the house because of BIOS issues. It has all the latest goodies, lol. Whats nice is that I can design with it and since I have extra 7 inch touchscreens laying around, I can test the skins to a size most people use. My thought was to have the main drive use NTSF, like normal, then install a smaller drive, like maybe 20GB to put LinuxICE on in Fat32.

Also I have a bunch of ideas floating around in my head when it comes to skinning, but I am going to ask all of them on the OpenICE forums, unless you prefer I ask them on MP3Car.
