    Linux based iPad (sort of)

I was looking around and I found this and thought Kev may be interested. http://wepad.mobi/en It is a iPad like device that runs linux. It has a 1.66ghz Intel Atom, no mention of ram though, 6 hour battery, 16gb or 32gb storage (upgradable with SDHC cards) 11" screen, web cam, all the same sensors, 802.11 a/b/g/n, 3G (special version), GPS (I think only on the 3G one though) but it looks like a nice device and has multi-touch and Linux. Here is the spec sheet compairing its self to the iPad. http://www.neofonie.de/files/product...ad_1004014.pdf

    What do you guys think?

    Dave

    The name is TERRIBLE. Wepad.

    The specs look promising though.

It looks like it will be the best option so far in a webpad style device. What do you think tripzero? multi-touch gestures in the car :-P

I have to agree with the name but hey at least its not a big iPhone.

This is the price in the PDF doc. Not cheap but then again it is a full pc in one.
    16GB+, WLAN
    449.- € (euro's I think) = 608$ USD
    WePad 3G
    32GB+, WLAN, 3G, GPS
    569.- € = 771$

well, x86 instead of ARM has its advantages. of course, cpu arch is less important when running Linux. Driver availability is a much larger concern. I'm not looking at these types of devices as something to replace my carpc. I see them useful for what they are designed to do... watch/read stuff.
