    Installed SLS circa 93'
A few months later moved to Slackware.

Still using Slackware, both on my laptop and on every server I install.

Planning to run a Slackware based carpc, have no idea what to do about GPS though, gpsdrive doesn't seem to support important features I require nor did I find Israeli maps for it...

And still searching for a decent usb sound card supported by alsa with the ability to control 4.1 channels/sub crossover...

I really like Slackware, but my recent favorite has become Gentoo. The emerge package system is great and I like having the option of builind a system from scratch to fully optimize it. I used gentoo on one of those older VIA EPIA boards... the C3 500Mhz i believe as a makeshift carputer on a really long road trip. Controlled it via wifi w/ a laptop and vnc. One problem with gentoo is that if you have a slower machine and you compile everything from scratch it takes FOREVER as in 2 days to compile Xorg + KDE on that 500Mhz board.

timpy, yes that is the problem with compiling on an older machine. You can also prepare all your packages on a different (faster) computer and copy them over. Even if the architectures are different. I admit, it can be a pain in the ***.
