my idea, as posted before in another thread, is to make a map layer with communication capability which will be emulated by wine. Basically only the map part of the linux frontend would be emulated. all GPS dialogs will be made by the frontend in linux, and the frontend will communicated with the map (emulated) tto send/recieve data...

this should make the emulated part as small as possible, and make it pretty platform independent... still need to get wine going with it tho...

About the other solutions you point out... they look good, but as usual no support for Brazil or the rest of the world... my idea in using destinator is cause it is the only one available pretty much worldwide...
Do you have a link for the "Desinator" software you're trying to get working? I'm interested in what you're doing...

Okay God willing I will have all the files ready and a good portion of the website done sometime this week. I've been finishing my basement for the last few months so that's kind of taken over my time lately. Anyway, silverwolf.intuitionsys.com is there now and the software section (basically non-noob instructions) is more or less complete but none of the files are there yet.

Could you elaborate a bit? e.g.: Xine OSD fonts, frontend fonts, etc.

dunno, it's all default, I know I had to use a different video driver in order for it to go full screen, I just dont see any themes anywhere for it.

All the file links for silverwolf.intuitionsys.com should be working now. The setup instructions are a bit of a novel but you could probably get it set up in about two or three hours (not including compile time) if you have the hardware it's designed for and have a firm grasp of Gentoo/linux in general. Anyhoo enjoy...

btw the only sections that are done right now are the docs and software sections and the docs still need screenshots but all the meat is there.

The entire silverwolf site is done now except the BB btw. Say that 3 times fast.

Now that the holidays are over and I'm back into the daily grind, I can finally say that a new Silverwolf version is on the way, with much more skinning/customizing support (along with a nicer skin IMHO - I didn't spend much time on the first two). When everything is done I'll post some screenshots and an MPEG movie on the silverwolf site - hopefully by the end of this month.
