GPSDrive is very good. You can get voice with that too I believe using festival - not sure if its turn by turn voice nav or just information that gets spewed out. GPSDrive also supports storing waypoints in mySQL... you can wardrive with Kismet and do the same thing the netstumbler with mappoint does.
GPSDrive uses raster maps, not vector maps, and does not support route planning of any kind.
Any updates on IG stability in linux?
We need to start a WINE bounty for it and get some money in the pot. At this point, its not stable enough.

As for the redraw being wierd when you drag the map, that is "Normal" since it happens in windows also.

hey ddn did you try any of this with D3/FreeDrive?
I'd put some money into that pot!
I'm trying to get iGuidance 2.1 working, and wine keeps saying,
fixme:comm:SetupComm insize 1024 outsize 256 unimplemented stub
Anybody know how to work around this problem?
Chris
What vesrion of wine are you using? Have you tried manualy setting up the comm port using setserial? Maybe you have to do that?
OK, I downloaded and compiled the latest and greatest Wine, and that problem has gone away. However, now it says, "too many open pipes," or something like that, and stops receiving GPS data after a couple seconds. Argh.
so much fun, dude
