I have not seen one.
but....
Probably would be quite easy, we just need to contact griffin technologies and see if they have a linux driver.
has anyone made an interface for monochrome lcd screens that is controlled with a powermate and 4 other buttons that looks and controls just like an ipod?
i thing it would be great if someone made an interface that controlled and looked just like an ipod one but ran off linux.

There's already a linux kernel driver for the Powermate. It's in 2.4.21 and above, Redhat shipped it with RH9, other distros likely shipped it as well.
Here are some links for using a Powermate under linux:

If you want a "powermate with four other buttons", have you looked at the ShuttleXpress? It's not as well supported, and it's not quite the same feel as a powermate, but it's close.

So I thought more about this, and I'm not clear on what you mean. Do you want a set of input devices like the iPod has and a nested menu system (like the iPod ) has displayed on the screen. This wouldn't be a complete front end, just a music browser and player?Originally Posted by simon_C
