how about a PCMCIA CD Drive?

DSL was nice for me. I put it on a laptop with a dead hard drive booting from cd. I also played with knoppix. I am now using kanotix on a 1G celeron with 256M ram. Kanotix is good and only 1 disk and is upgradeable to a full blown debian distro once its installed.

there is just not much to do on a 486 - I would just install windows 95
and play old windows games and dos games -
But that floppy image may let you play with the command line - but
I am shure a lot was removed to fit in the space of a floppy
On a side note I used Mpxplay on dos years ago to play MP3s it
worked good - but you still need a faster computer
I'm not bashing your idea, but there is not much you can do with Linux running at that speed. There are lots of cool little "linux boxes" you could make with it, but it wouldn't really be that good of a taste. In my opinion you need a computer with some decent clockspeed really appreciate it.
Check craigslist....
Always something good there..
My friend just picked up a P133 Laptop fully functional for $25.00
