Debian and egalax drivers, please help.
I've spent at least twenty hours on this this weekend, including a new install to 2.6 kernel and I've gotten nowhere.
The touchscreen works with the touchkitusb drivers, but not correctly as there are no calibration methods.
Spent hours twiddling with the sources for the egalax drivers and they will not compile on three different kernel version and 4 different versions of gcc (2.95, 3.3, 3.4, 4)
Not quite true, got them to work on a 2.6 kernel with 3.4 with much source editing, but seeing the kernel was compiled with gcc 4, they can't be loaded.
I've tried every trick/faq and writeup I could find and they just will not compile
I've tried installing the evtouch X drivers too and while they compile and load, but no difference in operation.
I'm at my wits end here. Anyone have this working on debian (or one of it's offshoots) and if so, can you tell me what versions of the kernel/gcc/x you're running?
I'm just about to give up and just throw win98 and winamp on it for now. I need a car in one piece with a f'cking radio and it's just too much frustration.
I've got so much done with the software and all these other areas but then something stupid and trivial that should work doesn't (like line-out, touchscreen) takes 50 times longer than to write the front end.
I love linux for it's strengths, but then you hit these stupid trivial things and they're just walls.
