    Great work, dudes!

Timekiller, I'm following your guide for my carpc installation, since I've got almost the same hardware. It's great!!!!

I wasn't able to install gentoo (it was the third time i tried to install, so I gave up!), so I looked for another distro, and stucked with iMedia mythTV.

It's a good distro for our system, except two things:
-it has no via graphics package for i586(I've got a EPIA m9k) - i post in the forum (as sanzoghenzo) and sent a mail via the support page, but no response yet. Tonight I tried to install the i686 version, it seems to work. not fully tested yet!
-It has no packaging instruction, yet. packages are basically an archive with install script inside it, so it appears as executables. But pando (one of the developers) told me that they don't have a standard "packaging system", but they plan to release an howto or similar in a short time.
    So stey tuned!

Keep up the good work and have a nice time!
    bye

    All:
Finally got Crossover office working on my carpc setup. THis was not easy, as I switched distributions to Puppy Linux. This is a great, small, and fast distro, with a lot of customization. Plus, it can be made live and modified with additional files in the live cd. Neat distro.

Oh, so the pain was glibc. My custom RedHat and Puppy systems did not have tls or nptl compiled into the glibc. So I compiled and installed glibc-2.3.6 in puppy with tls and nptl enabled. Without these, you can forget crossover office.

The only thing I need now is to get IG to start full screen. I think I can do that in Fluxbx easily enough. Otherwise, the switch to Puppy Linux was actually pretty cool. Now running 1GB CF card with the distro on in (including crossover) and a 60 GB regular drive for everything else. Have 400 MB left on the CF card. Boots in 30 - 40 seconds. Touchscreen, mythtv, and 5.1 USB audio.

IG found my GPS on /dev/ttyS0 without further configuration. No fonts were needed either. Everything seems to work. Now I'll try to Demo, since people were saying IG would crash after so many hours.

    Thanks all.

iGuidance works better in crossover. The custom buttons they created do not map properly on my display, so the only usable option was to use crossover. Don't know why Crossover's is better, as I compiled and ran Wine 0.9.17 (which is the same as the current crossover version) and the buttons were way too big (they ran off the screen).

Easiest way to get the maps loaded was use a windows machine and install the maps you want (probably all of them, you need about 2 GB). Then I copied the iNav map directory over to the bottle/winedrive and it al worked. The map loader seems to crash for me at 14/16 files.

Also, if you use fluxbox, you can set the height and width of the window, and save it in the apps file (I'm sure this works with other WMs as well). On my application, I wanted it full screen, so I set it up and saved the window configuration. iGuidance seems to save the last state of the program, so if you are in non-menu mode when you exit, you will stay that way on next start. Also, don't forget the warning screen can be disabled.

To start from a command, I made a script to launch it "wine --bottle=iGuidance c:/Progra..."

I mention the window size because I think that is a great trick to make the app more integrated. If your mp3 player or whatever is taking some space on the bottom of the screen, and iGuidance is loaded with a pre-set size, you can use both apps without having to alt-tab between them. With fluxbox, this is very easy, and it is possible to get rid of the window frame and all the non-program decorations.

    Hope this helps.

I finally ordered iGuidance and a GPS mouse from iNav, so iGuidance support may find its way into SW2...

It'll have to wait until I get back from vacation though!
