LinuxICE+Hildon Discussion

A while back myself and the LinuxICE devs were discussing what we should LinuxICE2 be. At that time, when ubuntu mobile was announced we thought about tapping into those resources and using them (along with resources from the moblin and meamo projects). We were able to do some preliminary tests as a proof of concept that it was possible. Here are some docs that were produced as a result.

These docs are rather outdated and more discussion to what LinuxICE2 will be (if it will be at all) needs to happen. We discovered later on that hildon wouldn't be the most desirable desktop to use. Hence, ng2 was developed to use instead. The advantages of ng2 over hildon is that not only is ng2 a desktop environment for the car, but is also an integrated media player with integration capabilities far beyond hildon. Another reason is that we wanted a common skinning language that could be used with icepanel, ng2, and other ice apps that could potentially appear in the future. Hildon is flash based, which is good and bad.

Maybe I'll start a new thread on a discussion on what LinuxICE2 should be or even what LinuxICE3 should be. (along with ng2-3 stuff)...

I would, of course, use the latest image (beta2-1) to do this on. You can still use hildon with icepanel with no problems... i think...

I only had half an hour over lunch to play with it so I couldn't try any other fixes.

I'm wondering if I should have skipped the IceUpdate and modified sources.list first then ran the update.

some of the repos you won't be able to change to gutsy. the suspend2 repo is one of them. That may be where you are getting your errors from.

I thought of that but ran out of time over lunch.

Do you know which gusty repos are required for ubuntu-mobile (as a minimum)?

Just the main it appears from this pic:

You probably don't want to mix ubuntu gutsy with ubuntu feisty repos.

Also none of the 3rd party repos matter to the update anyway so you won't have to change any of them...

Here is a screen cap of my repos the bottom one is the suspend2 which I changed to feisty.

Are all of these necessary or can they be combined?
For example could the first three gusty debs be combined into one;
